Accommodations
MacGillivray Guest Home offers both private and private rooms equipped with a “Nurse Call” system. Room allocation is based on availability and your health needs. Couples at their request may share a semi private room. Where possible you will be admitted to the type of accommodation you requested however there may be a wait period for private rooms.
The Home reserves the right to transfer residents to other rooms as required to meet the needs of the residents and the Home.
Recreation
In keeping with the mission statement of MacGillivray Guest Home, the Recreation Department exists to provide therapeutic recreation programs to all residents of the home. The Recreation Department’s mandate is to enhance the quality of life for all residents by focusing on the resident’s social, emotional, physical and spiritual well being.

Dietary
Nutritional Care
Attractive, tasty meals are planned by a qualified dietician in accordance with Canada’s Food Guide; Modified therapeutic diets are available if prescribed by your physician. Nutritious snacks are served between meals and at bedtime.
Resident input into meal planning is encouraged through participation in the Resident Council Meetings. Family members and residents are encouraged to attend. Please confirm dates and times with the Director of Recreation and Volunteer Services.
Finance
Business Office Hours
Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm with the exception of holidays. The office will be closed daily from 12:00pm-1:00 pm for lunch.
Payment Information
MacGillivray Guest Home will provide the Resident with room, board and nursing care. The Resident and/or Resident's Authorized Representative will pay MacGillivray Guest Home the accommodation charge authorized by the Nova Scotia Department of Health.
Environmental
Environmental Services staff is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Home. This includes the cleaning of residents' rooms, washrooms, hallways, dining areas, and all public areas and offices.
Laundry
The Home provides machine washing,drying,and delivery of personal clothing.

Maintenance
General Safety
The safety and well being of our residents is our prime concern. We also recognize that safety is a dual responsibility of residents/family and staff. For your safety all resident rooms are equipped with nurse call systems. We encourage their use.
Due to safety precautions and possible overcrowding of resident rooms, a limited number of articles of personal furniture are permitted. A favorite chair (appropriate size for room), TV (no larger than 27” flat screen. Pictures are allowed but must be approved by the maintenance department.
